What will my child learn?
Kindergarten programming promotes child development in early literacy, early numeracy, and citizenship and identifies personal and social responsibility; physical skills; creative expression; and community and environmental awareness. What is the age requirement?
Children must be five years of age by the last day of December in the year they wish to register for Kindergarten (birth certificate is required at registration).
Is transportation provided?
Transportation is provided to Kindergarten students who attend their designated school and live more than 2.4 km away from this school. For more information regarding student transportation see Board Policy 16: Student Transportation or call the Transportation Department at 780.352.8078.
When is the Kindergarten program available?
Programs generally operate on the regular school calendar, with modified commencement dates starting in early September and finishing sometime in June. Students receive a minimum of 475 hours of instruction in either half or full-day settings. Contact your local school for more detailed information.
What if my child has special needs?
Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools provides programming for students with special needs who may require early intervention. Additional information on programming options and eligibility can be obtained by contacting the Program Unit Funding Coordinator at 780.352.0224. What is a parent's role in the classroom?
Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time in the classroom and to assist in supervising, such as field trips.
How do I register?

2. The school personnel will ask for, and make copies of, your child's birth certificate.
