Getting Ready for Kindergarten Fall 2016

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time - for both children and parents. A positive learning experience at this early age will help give your child the skills and confidence to become an enthusiastic lifelong learner.

Wetaskiwin Regional Public schools kindergarten application packages will be available for pick up on February 15, 2016.  If you have a child eligible to attend kindergarten this fall (5 years old on or before December 31, 2016) you can pick up a Kindergarten application package at the Division Office 5515-47A Avenue in Wetaskiwin or at the schools. Complete the forms enclosed in the package and return them to the school at their information night.

Enrollment in an appropriate Kindergarten program is an important first step in your child's education. Our School's share a common vision of fostering pride, respect and success for our students.  We hope you will give us an opportunity to nurture his or her social, physical, and intellectual growth.

ECS / KINDERGARTEN

All of our elementary schools provide a kindergarten program for children who are five years of age on or before the last day of December in the year in which they are registering.  For contact information refer to the Our Schools section of the website.

What will my child learn?

What is the age requirement?
Children must be five years of age by the last day of December in the year they wish to register for Kindergarten (birth certificate is required at registration).

Is transportation provided?
Transportation is provided to Kindergarten students who attend their designated school and live more than 2.4 km away from this school.  For more information regarding student transportation see Board Policy 16: Student Transportation or call the Transportation Department at 780.352.6018.

What if my child has special needs?
Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools provides programming for students with special needs who may require early intervention. Additional information on programming options and eligibility can be obtained by contacting the Program Unit Funding Coordinator at 780.352.0224.  For further information refer to the to Early Education & Family Wellness Centre.
