The Government of Alberta announced its 2010/2011 budget on Tuesday, February 9^th.   The government made education a priority against the backdrop of very difficult fiscal times - it could have been worse.  The 0% increase to the basic education grant is far better than school boards feared last fall when they were warned they could be facing up to $300 million in cuts to education funding.
